Rhythm

Characteristics of rhythm are mentioned while describing the EKG.They specify:

1) Origin of rhythm
2) Regularity

The classification is given in brief here. For explainations please refer respective pages.
Depending on the origin of the rhythm the arrhythmias are classified into:

1) Atrial
2) AV Nodal/Junctional
3) Ventricular
or
1) Supraventricular
2) Ventricular

Depending on the heart rate arrhythmias are classified as:

1) Tachyarrhythmias
2) Bradyarrhythmias

ATRIAL TACHYARRHYTHMIAS:

Sinus Tachycardia
Ectopic Atrial Tachycardia
Multifocal Atrial Tachycardia
Atrial Flutter
Atrial Fibrillation

JUNCTIONAL TACHYARRHYTHMIAS:

Atrioventricular Re-entrant Tachycardia(AVRT)
AV Nodal Re-entrant Tachycardia(AVNRT)

VENTRICULAR TACHYARRHYTHMIAS:

Accelerated Idioventricular Rhythm(AIVR)
Ventricular Tachycardia
Ventricular Fibrillation
Torsades de Pointes

BRADYARRHYTHMIAS:

Sinus Bradycardia
SA Nodal exit blocks(1st,2nd and 3rd degrees)
Junctional Escape rhythm
AV Nodal Blocks(1st,2nd and 3rd degrees)
Idioventricular Rhythm
Asystole
